Eugène Atget’s photographs of Paris at the turn of the 20th century form a remarkable visual archive of the city’s streets, architecture, and vanishing pre-modern spaces. While best known for his carefully composed urban vistas, he occasionally photographed street vendors, shopkeepers, and laborers.
